通信業界リーダー５社はが3G無線基地局の新たな標準仕様を公表(CPRI)

産業協力団体CPRI(Common Public Radio Interface)参加のEricsson,　 Huawei, NEC, Nortel Networks, Siemensの5社は、本日、業界では初めてとなる無線基地局の主要内部インターフェースの仕様を公開しました。

５社はスケジュール予定より早く、４ヶ月間でこのCPRI仕様を完成させました。参加各社は２００４年内にはこの仕様に準じた製品を市場に出すことを目標としています。

CPRIは3G無線基地局機器内唯一の無線ベースの接点であるであり、無線部と制御部を分離するインタフェースの設計に集中して取り組みました焦点を当てています。これにより基地局機器内のそれぞれの部品部分のより一層の技術革新を促すことが可能となります。

CPRI標準は無線通信業界のために公開されます。通信事業者にとってはいかなる応用局面へも対応する幅広い製品を迅速に市場提供することが可能になります。また基地局メーカや部品メーカにとっても、各社の競争力のある部分の技術開発に注力できるようになります。CPRI標準はモジュールの大きさや定義済みの機能分担に限定されることなく、新たな機器アーキテクチャを可能とするものです。

CPRIの活動は既存の標準化団体を補完するものであり、開発された標準インターフェースは携帯無線基地局機器に活用されるものです。
